Formation of youth branch of The Heart and Stroke Foundation
Towards an attempt to have the tobacco legislation amended in South Africa, Ms. Zulfa Abrahams (Dietician), National Manager Health Promotion, Heart and Stroke Foundation, who had accompanied GYM delegation from South Africa as an adult chaperone did a presentation on behalf of the Heart and Stroke Foundation in parliament to the portfolio committee on health. Wanelisa, representing Y4H from South Africa and the new youth branch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of South Africa, made a presentation to the parliamentary committee considering stricter tobacco control legislation in South Africa. Her presentation was applauded summarily by the committee members. She also happened to be the only young person to support the stricter measures that are being suggested.
